There are suppliers and installers who are putting very ineffective barriers in front of retail shops that are being targeted in smash and grab type attacks.
Accurate’s security engineering team would not have recommended the use of the pedestrian barrier that is seen in the video. We would have recommended, potentially, bollards to prevent the vehicle from reaching the glass, as well as a full roller shutter from Duffet Doors or another supplier.
But the video http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2017/03/ram-raid-on-auckland-vape-store-nets-10k.html
does show what you get from your investment – not much.
From News Hub.
"An Auckland vaping shop in Mt Eden has had up to $10,000 of supplies stolen during a ram-raid robbery on Monday morning.
"Hey guys, it’s been a bad weekend for us. The shop was ram-raided early this morning so the shop is closed while police forensics do their thing," VAPO wrote on Facebook.
Security video shows a white vehicle ramming through the front of the store. Two masked robbers enter the shop, lift up the wrecked security fence, and start robbing the store.
"This is some of the footage from the break in at our shop. Any information that leads to the arrest of the three offenders gets a $1000 reward. Share it around so we can catch these a**holes," VAPO said on YouTube.
The store is currently getting a new security system and doors installed and is aiming to be up and running again on Saturday.
